John was one of many bosses I worked for over my many years at Nottingham City Council in finance. He was always understanding and extremely helpful and supportive. His vast knowledge made him the 'go to' person for me as I had to deal with many difficult situations over the years. I recall he was worried about flying but overcame that fear and enjoyed holidays abroad as well as in the UK. He will be greatly missed at the 'Old City Treasurer's gang' get together meals in the future. Sue Tonguex
